What's the weather like?

When to visit Chiang Mai

The best time to visit Chiang Mai is from November to February, when the weather is cool, dry, and perfect for exploring temples, wandering the Old City, or heading up to Doi Suthep without breaking a sweat. This is also festival season — think Yi Peng Lantern Festival in November and Flower Festival in February — so the city feels extra magical. If you love lush green scenery and don’t mind a little rain, July to October can also be beautiful (and quieter).
